Hi there! I'm Raquel Barbosa and I am the owner of this itsy bitsy website.

 

I'm Brazilian and I fell in love with the English language when I was six years old!

 

I worked for many years in IT, but today I make my living as a writer and content creator. I love travelling (I know, so millennial lol) coffee, and pop culture.

 

I had the idea for the name of this website out of a discussion about nurture vs nature vs free will. Are we the product of our environment or our we free to write our own stories?

 

Well, my humble answer to that is the tittle theoffbeatsheep: yes, we are all heavily influenced by things around us, but if we choose to think for ourselves we all have the capacity to deviate a little and be our own person. 

 

So I created this website to gather a community of other offbeat sheep , that is, people who fight everyday to diverge at least a bit from the herd and live authentic lives.
